Edward and the Chocolate Milk

Edward trying to smile naturally

This past weekend, I realized that some of the shiny, happy people in my life have gone missing and it made me sad. Without realizing it, they made life go so much smoother or at least more fun. Then Edward came home for lunch after church and drank chocolate milk just like old times and we had fun.

Dearest Julia, I truly hope I can be one of the shiny, happy people in your life. You certainly are one in mine!

Julia;
Do you remember me writing that the most difficult thing a mother experiences is to see her children leave home? I think you are feeling that and doesn't it make you happy when the kids come home? It is quite easy to see that you have really enjoyed motherhood. Your children is very blessed.

I have been "home" now for about a day and half. Haven't been here in about six months. As we drove around the old town I realized that it's not the town I come back to see but the comfort of just being with my mom and familiarity. It's not the house I grew up in but I know where the silverware is and what to expect in that one cupboard that holds all the snacks. There is a room that is called mine in the house. The problems of the world seem to fade away for a little while when I sit on the bed in that room behind a closed door. I become a shiny, happy person.
